Our Story
We're Cris, Phil, and Pepperoni, the new crew taking over Morada das Palmas. We first crossed paths in Cape Town back in 2019, and before we knew it, COVID threw a curveball at us. With visas and paperwork making life tricky—Cris couldn't stick around in South Africa, and Phil had Europe off-limits—we decided to hustle to stay together. Fast-forward through a pandemic, two years away from Galicia, and an epic quest for Phil's Spanish residency, and here we are in San Adrián, Ortigueira!
We both work remotely, and as we pondered what life had in store, we took a gamble and checked out a house that Cris, oftentimes, fantasized with. At the time, it felt like an outlandish dream. But hey, roll into March 2023, and guess what? Nothing's off the table! After a year of living like nomads, we finally found our forever home. Careful what you wish for, though!
Reality smacked us hard. There were tears, frustrations, back-breaking work, and what felt like snail-paced progress. Shout out to Manuel Vierna Cris' dad, because without him, we'd still be neck-deep in paint cans.On a shoestring budget and against all odds, we brought this love-starved house back to life.
Come July 2023, with a little help from our international friends and local pros, we moved in and named the place Morada das Palmas, paying homage to its ancient palm trees.
And just when you think life it's complete, along comes Mr.Pepperoni in August 2023! He joined our diverse family of donkeys, boars, and the odd ghost. Our donkey duo (The Chief Garden Officers), Orejas and Patricio, are still adjusting to a feisty little dachshund trying to nibble their legs whenever they're not looking.
